Ben's Lens: July 2012
This image shows the First Unitarian Church located in Germantown at Greene Street and Chelten Avenue. Frank Furness most likely received this commission through his father’s connections as a Unitarian minister in Philadelphia. Philadelphia photographer Robert Newell took the photograph soon after the church’s completion in 1869. The church building was demolished in the mid-1920s when the congregation moved to a new building on the 6500 block of Lincoln Drive.
