Ben's Lens: July 2007

Many of our E-newsletter readers recognized this engraving as a view of New York City's Wall Street with Trinity Church at the end of the street. It originally appeared as an illustration in Meyer's Universum (1850). This view is one of several hundred city and town views included in the John McAllister Collection of Printed Ephemera, Graphics and Manuscripts. Through generous funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the William Penn Foundation, the Library Company has recently completed the conservation and cataloging of this over 50,000 item collection. Please visit http://www.librarycompany.org/mcallister to learn more about this exciting collection of recruiting broadsides, playbills, valentines and other material.
