General seminar housing will be offered at Drexel University’s undergraduate dormitories, located in West Philadelphia, roughly three miles from the Library Company. The Drexel dorms include basic kitchen facilities, a lounge, and laundry facilities. (A weekly linen service will be offered for an additional fee). Housing units are located conveniently near subway and bus-lines to the Library Company. For those who do not mind walking, the Library Company is about a 40-minute walk from summer housing. The Drexel Dorms are also close to West Philadelphia’s numerous stores, bookshops, cafés and a movie theater complex. (University of Pennsylvania is a few blocks away from Drexel housing). Our dorms are basic but they come at a very affordable for the city of Philadelphia: $42.00 per night for a single room (there are no double rooms) and $15 per week for linens (which is an optional charge). Parking will be available for $140 for the month. Access to the gym will be offered for $75, for the month. Those who stay at Drexel will also have access to the Drexel Library (though this will not include borrowing privileges) and computer system.
While we understand that dorm living is basic, we also strongly encourage you to stay at Drexel to promote collegiality and intellectual exchange. In previous years, in fact, many seminar participants have commented that after-hours discussions of readings and topics in the dorms were one of the most important features of the seminar. For those seeking other opportunities, we will also provide information on hotel housing and bed and breakfast options in the Philadelphia area.

There are plenty of B & B’s and Hotels in Philadelphia, though they are often much more expensive than Drexel Housing. One place to try is La Reserve Bed and Breakfast in Center City:

Among the many hotels in downtown Philadelphia, the Holiday Inn Express Midtown on Walnut Street is a block away from the Library Company:
